Information technology tops DATCP's 2012 list
20.05.12
When Gov. Scott Walker asked Brancel to once again head the DATCP,
Brancel was ready to return-and he was armed with a lot of new
ideas and a desire to bring the agency's information technology
(IT) up to a 21st Century level.
"Twelve years ago I didn't have the expertise or interest in IT
that I do today. We can't train 300 employees and have some still
working with old protocols. We want to retool, not to reduce the
number of people, but to help these people do the job they want to
do," Brancel said during a late December interview with
Agri-View.
Leading an agency that deals with a wide variety of issues ranging
from animal health to food safety, from livestock siting to
identity theft, Brancel put in place a new team of division
administrators who share his vision and dedication to serving the
agricultural community-and that includes consumers.
