I deleted a newly created group so I could alter the name. Now I cannot use the same email address* - help!?

This happened within a 5 minute period, so I doubt that particular email address was taken by someone else. Is there a waiting period for Yahoo! to clear the submitted email address from its database? (*Note: I am talking about the email address associated
